New for the 2014-15 Season, Aurora University welcomes NCAA Hockey! Cheer on the Spartans for their inaugural season! Ryan Buchanan is head coach of the NCAA Hockey team.

Aurora University first sponsored an intercollegiate hockey team in the 2012-13 season. Ryan Buchanan is head coach of the Division III team, too. In the 2013-14 Season, Aurora University Hockey finished 1-2 in pool play at the ACHA Nationals. The Spartans finished the 2013-14 season with a 36-4-1 overall record.

Head out to the Fox Valley Ice Arena, 1996 S. Kirk Road, in Geneva to cheer on your local Spartans! You just might recognize some familiar faces! In addition to the games, the Fox Valley Ice Arena offers a pub and grill for before or after game food, drink and fun!

Aurora University Hockey

Aurora University is located in Aurora, Illinois – the second largest city in the state – about 40 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hockey team plays and practices at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, located just north of Aurora. The arena houses two ice sheets (NHL and Olympic), a hockey shop, training center and restaurant. Aurora currently fields 20 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic teams, with hockey becoming the 21st; the university traces its origins to 1893.
